Deputy Chief of Police

Deputy Chief Duarte has worked for the Northlake Police Department since 2007. Prior to joining Northlake PD, Deputy Chief Duarte served four years in the Marine Corps. Throughout his career, Deputy Chief Duarte has served in a variety of key roles, including Neighborhood Enforcement Team member (gang/narcotics), Evidence Technician, Detective, Detective Sergeant, and Investigations Commander.

Deputy Chief Duarte also served as an evidence technician, and later an investigator, for the West Suburban Major Crimes Task Force (WESTAF). He also served as the department's Training Officer and he is an active instructor for the department in areas such as Range instructor, Taser instructor, Rapid Deployment instructor, CPR instructor, and Red Dot Optic instructor. Deputy Chief Duarte is also a current member of the West Suburban Special Response Team (SRT), where he continues to contribute his extensive training and experience in high-pressure situations.

Deputy Chief Duarte has served as the Deputy Chief of Sworn Operations since 2021, where he oversees the department's most critical functions to ensure operational efficiency. His military and law enforcement background has uniquely prepared him for the challenges of leadership, crisis management, and tactical operations. Deputy Chief Duarte is committed to ensuring the safety and well-being of his community and his fellow officers and he continuously strives to mentor and guide the next generation of law enforcement professionals.

Deputy Chief Duarte has a Bachelor of Science degree from Western Illinois University with a major in Emergency Management and a minor in Criminal Justice Administration. In 2018, Deputy Chief Duarte graduated from Northwestern University’s School of Police Staff and Command.

The Deputy Chief reports directly to the Chief of Police.
