The City of Northlake is committed to providing efficient and excellent governmental services in order to protect and enhance the quality of life of those who live, work, visit, and conduct business in our community and to provide a safe, livable and sustainable community for our current and future residents.

A Vision for Northlake:
Goals and Objectives:
- Land Use- Focus on infill and redevelopment, mixed use at Wolf Road and North Avenue
- Residential- Implement Homes for a Changing Region report
- Commercial and Industrial- improve the appearance of corridors and attract desired businesses/retail
- Transportation- Expand trails, and work with IDOT to improve traffic flow on North Avenue.
- Natural Environment- Support the park districts and maintain the city open space
- Governance- Plan for future growth, explore educational alternatives, and work with ComEd for a resilient and robust electrical grid.
Implementation
Strategies to be prioritized in the next two years include the following:
- Strengthen capacity for implementation.
- Attract new and improved existing commercial and industrial development.
- Extend the trail system.
- Complete projects that minimize flooding.
- Improve the reliability of local electric service.
Acknowledgements:
The City of Northlake Comprehensive Plan is the cumulative effort of many individuals, including residents and stakeholders who attended public meetings and workshops, who provided time and expertise to identify community issues and opportunities, and strategies to help reach the shared vision described in our plan.
