Dawn Colón
Supervisor Dawn Colón started her career in law enforcement in 2002, as a police and fire dispatcher for a small community in Lake County. Dawn began her journey with the Northlake Police Department in 2014 as a police telecommunicator, quickly proving her dedication and excellence in the field. Dawn’s commitment and hard work were recognized when she was honored as Employee of the Year in 2018.
In 2020, Dawn took a leadership role as Communications Supervisor, where she continued to excel in managing her team in the day-to-day operations of the dispatch center. Dawn’s outstanding contributions led to another well-deserved recognition as Employee of the Year in 2023.
With a strong work ethic and passion for public service, Dawn advanced once again in 2024, stepping into the role of Records Supervisor. In her current role, Dawn oversees the day-to-day operations of the Records Division, processes false alarm billing, FOIA requests, expungements, liquor license applications, overweight permits, solicitor permits, and a variety of other records related duties. Dawn also works closely with the CALEA accreditation manager throughout the accreditation process to ensure the department’s compliance with the CALEA standards.
Dawn’s journey is a testament to perseverance, professionalism, and dedication to the Northlake Police Department.
