Liliana Rivera
Supervisor Rivera has been serving the Northlake Police Department with dedication and integrity for over 17 years. She began her career in 2007 as a Telecommunicator and was promoted as the Communications Supervisor in 2024. In 2016, she graduated with a bachelor’s degree, from Benedictine University, double majoring in criminal justice and Spanish studies. Her exemplary service has earned her numerous awards, including the distinguished 2020 Employee of the Year accolade. She has also held other various critical roles, including certified-proficient bilingual (Spanish) translator, certified matron for female prisoner searches, Tactical Incident Dispatcher (T.I.D.), certified training officer (CTO), and L.E.A.D.S (Law Enforcement Agency Data System) agency coordinator (L.A.C.). With her extensive professional and educational background in public safety and communications, she brings a wealth of knowledge and expertise to the Communications team, significantly enhancing the department's efficiency and effectiveness.
Supervisor Rivera oversees the day-to-day operations of the Communications Division. She reviews the Telecommunicators data entries and 9-1-1 calls for compliance, developed and implements the Telecommunicator training program, assigns the Telecommunicators continuing education & training, responsible for equipment maintenance and repair, maintains up-to-date radio frequency FCC licenses and CJIS certifications for the department, handles FOIA & court subpoena 9-1-1 recording requests, maintains accurate accounting for money received from local ordinance and tow release payments, maintains and assures Sex Offender and Murderer/Violent Offender Against Youth registration compliance with the State of Illinois, maintains the Northlake Cares Program, disseminates major incident-press releases to all media outlets, compiles & provides supporting documentation to the CALEA accreditation manager throughout the accreditation process to ensure the department’s Communications Division is in compliance with CALEA’s standards, and a variety of other Communications related duties.
