Truck Enforcement

The City of Northlake enforces truck regulations to protect our roads and infrastructure from excessive wear and damage. Overloaded vehicles can cause undue and premature deterioration of our roadways and will lead to costly repairs. Overloaded vehicles also pose a threat to the public, as their mechanical components could fail and lead to serious accidents.

By ensuring compliance with weight limits, we enhance public safety, reduce maintenance costs on our roads and infrastructure.

Northlake Police Officers who are certified Truck Enforcement Officers attend a 40-hour training course at the College of DuPage.  The course is taught by the Illinois Truck Enforcement Association (ITEA). Today, the ITEA continues to make strides in developing commercial vehicle enforcement standards, compliance training, and stakeholder network building. The ITEA's vision is to increase roadway safety through collaboration, accountability, and robust communication.

Overloaded vehicles are required to be permitted. The Northlake Police Department utilizes the Oxcart Permit System. Oxcart Permit Systems is an online solution built for easy management of highway permitting by the local government.

All applications for permits must be made through Oxcart Permits.
